Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to data when you use buildertally.com. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

What you type into a calculator

Nothing. Every calculation runs in your browser. The dimensions you enter are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, are not stored, and do not leave your device.

What we collect

This site uses Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how people arrive. It sets a cookie in your browser to tell one visit from the next, and it reports to us in aggregate: page views, which calculator was used, referring sources, device type, and approximate location by country or region, derived from your IP address. Google processes that data on our behalf under its own terms; we see the summaries, not a file on you. We do not build profiles of individual visitors and we do not sell data to anyone.

We do not ask for or store names, email addresses or accounts, because the site has none. If you email us, we keep that email in order to reply to it.

Cookies and advertising

This site is supported by advertising, served by Google AdSense on the calculator pages and the home page. Google and the advertising partners it works with may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, to measure them, and to show ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. That data is collected under Google’s own privacy policy (policies.google.com/technologies/ads), not this one, and the pages that carry ads are the only pages that load Google’s advertising code.

Where the law requires it, a message from Google appears before advertising cookies are set. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland it asks for your consent, and the “Privacy and cookie settings” link that Google adds to pages with ads lets you change that choice later. In the US states with privacy laws it offers an opt-out from the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising, and sends that choice to Google with every ad request.

Outside those places, you can still opt out of personalised advertising by Google at google.com/settings/ads, and out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Affiliate links

At the time of the date above there are no affiliate links on this site: nothing here links to a retailer, and we earn no commission on anything you buy. We are describing this section in advance because it is the plan, not because it is running.

If that changes, a link that earns us a commission will say so next to the link itself, not only on this page — and the required disclosure will appear with it. It will not change what you pay, and it will not influence which materials or figures the calculators use: those come from the sources cited on each page, and that is the part of this site we are least willing to sell.

Your choices

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. What advertising involves is different: an ad provider may use a cookie to pick which ad you see, based on where you have been before.

You can switch that off at the source, which works across every site and not only this one: personalised advertising by Google at google.com/settings/ads, and other vendors at aboutads.info. If you are in a place where Google shows its privacy message, that message is where your choice is recorded for this site. Your browser’s own cookie settings and any privacy extension you use will also apply here.

If you would rather ask us directly — what an ad partner may have collected, or to have it stopped — write to info@buildertally.com and we will deal with it. You do not need to give a reason and it makes no difference to how the site works for you.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
